The Multnomah County Cultural Coalition is inviting arts, culture, and community champions to serve as panelists for the 2025 Community Cultural Participation Grant Program (CCP) application review panels. The Coalition provides grants to support community-based cultural events, programs, and organizations throughout Multnomah County.
If you are a resident of Multnomah County with a passion for the local arts and culture scene, please express your interest by completing a brief form with three questions by October 15, 2024.

About MCCC
The Multnomah County Cultural Coalition (MCCC) is the volunteer-led, re-granting board of the Oregon Cultural Trust in Multnomah County. Monies donated to the Cultural Trust come back to Multnomah County and are distributed as grants to cultural nonprofits per the Multnomah County Cultural Plan.
About MCCC’s Community Cultural Participation Grant Program (CCP)
The MCCC’s Community Cultural Participation Grant Program (CCP) supports community-based cultural events, programs, and organizations. For this grant cycle we are inviting applications for events/programs support, capital/capacity-building projects, and general operating support. Grants range between $1,000 and $3,000. Grant Goals
The purpose of the CCP is to advance the following goals:
- Make culture accessible and affordable to Multnomah County residents.
- Promote cultural diversity.
- Encourage new cultural activities.
- Foster partnerships and collaborations which support the above.
Panelist Commitments and Expectations
Volunteers serving as community panelists in the 2025 Grant Review Panels should expect to:
- Attend a virtual Panelist Orientation on Friday, November 8, 2024, 10-11am. Guidance for grant reviews and scoring will be provided.
- Individually review approximately 40-70 applications between November 18 and December 10, 2024, using online grant review software (approximately 20-25 hours). Be prepared to use fresh eyes with each application, continually reference the scoring criteria, limit implicit bias, and use consistent assessment techniques.
- Participate in an in-person panel session on one day TBD between January 6 and January 10, 2025, 10am-3pm. In this step, panelists finalize or adjust their scores based on the collaborative discussion, taking into account their peers’ perspectives and any insights gained during the deliberation to ensure a thorough and well-rounded evaluation of the applications.
- Receive an honorarium of $200.
- Gain valuable insight into the grant application and assessment processes.
- Meet and work with other panelists from across the arts and culture sector.
- Acquire professional development experience.
- Contribute to the success of nonprofit arts and cultural organizations and communities across Multnomah County.
Panelist Selection and Requirements
- Panelists will be selected by MCCC board members based on the following criteria: relevant connection to the arts and culture community in Multnomah County, compelling interest in panelist duties, ability to bring an equity lens to panel reviews. CCP Grant review panelists must be current residents of Multnomah County.
- Community grant panelists are not eligible to apply for their own MCCC Community Cultural Participation Grant while participating as a reviewer; however, past recipients of MCCC Community Cultural Participation Grants are eligible to participate.
- All panelists will be required to complete a Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form and recuse themselves from scoring and discussing organizations that they are affiliated with.
- Panelists must maintain confidentiality throughout the process and in perpetuity following its conclusion.
- Reliable access to the internet is required for grant reviews and virtual meetings.
Volunteers who have expressed interest in serving as panelists should expect to receive selection notification by November 1, 2024.
